The Brilliant Corners were a British indie pop band from Bristol formed in 1983. The ensemble was founded by Davey Woodward, Chris Galvin, Winston Forbes, Bob Morris, and Dan Pacini and derived their name from a Thelonious Monk album. They released three singles on their label SS20 before issuing the mini-album Growing Up Absurd (1985). They achieved professional recognition for the “Fruit Machine” (1986) EP and the track “Brian Rix” (1987), the latter of which raised funds for the charity Mencap. Their recording career includes the studio recordings What's In A Word (1986), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1988), and Joy Ride (1989). Their discography includes the tracks “Delilah Sands” (1987) and “Teenage” (2006). The group became inactive in 1993 following the release of A History Of White Trash. Galvin died in 1998 and Forbes died in 2019. The ensemble resumed activity for a tour in 2013.
