Black Cobra, a heavy metal duo, was formed in 2001 by drummer Rafael "Rafa" Martinez and guitarist‑vocalist Jason Landrian in San Francisco. Their self‑released eponymous EP was released in 2004, followed by the albums Bestial (2006) and Feather and Stone (2007). In 2007, the band performed at Roadburn Festival, followed by a limited DVD release. A 2009 deal with Southern Lord produced Chronomega (2009) and Invernal (2011), recorded by Billy Anderson and Kurt Ballou. Their 2016 album Imperium Simulacra was released via Season of Mist.
