The Waltones is a British indie band from Manchester, England. The band's lineup included Alex Fyans on drums, Mark Collins on guitar, James Knox on vocals and harmonica, and Manny Lee on bass and backing vocals. Their debut release was the single "Downhill", issued by Medium Cool Records in 1987, followed by "She Looks Right Through Me", which charted on the UK Independent Chart. The band's third single, "Spell it Out", reached number 20 on the Indie Singles Chart. Their debut album, Deepest, was released in 1989. In 1990, after recording a second album, Fyans left the group to be replaced by Adrian Donohue. The band later reformed under the name Candlestick Park and released the single "All the Time in the World" (1991). A retrospective compilation of their Medium Cool output, titled You've Gotta Hand it to 'em - The Very Best of the Waltones, was released in 2007 by Cherry Red Records. The Waltones reunited in 2017 for a performance at the Deaf Institute and later appeared at the Kendal Calling Festival in 2018 and at The 100 Club alongside The Chesterfields in 2019.
