Samuel Lee McCollum, known professionally as Sam Carr, and born on April 17, 1926, near Marvell, Arkansas, was an American blues drummer. He began his musical career playing bass for his biological father, Robert Nighthawk, before transitioning to drums. In 1956, he started working with Frank Frost, and in 1962, they formed the Jelly Roll Kings with Big Jack Johnson. The band released their debut album Hey Boss Man on Phillips International Records in 1962, which included the track "Jelly Roll King". They had a minor hit with "My Back Scratcher" in 1966 and continued performing through the 1970s. Carr also contributed to various albums by notable blues musicians, including T-Model Ford and Buddy Guy. In his later years, he led the Delta Jukes, releasing several albums such as Working for the Blues (2001) and Let the Good Times Roll (2007). He died on September 21, 2009.
