The Bad Shepherds were an English folk punk band formed in 2008 by comedian Adrian Edmondson, blending folk punk songs with traditional instruments. After Edmondson bought a mandolin and taught himself to play, he collaborated with Troy Donockley, a virtuoso uilleann pipes player. The Bad Shepherds released their debut album Yan, Tyan, Tethera, Methera! in May 2009, followed by their second album, By Hook or by Crook, released in November 2010. The band won the Spiral Earth Award for Best Live Act in 2012. After a brief hiatus, they reunited to release Mud, Blood & Beer in August 2013. The band announced their disbandment on October 31, 2016.
