Little Miss Higgins is the stage name of Jolene Yvonne Higgins, a Canadian folk and acoustic blues singer-songwriter who has performed both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of Little Miss Higgins and the Winnipeg Five. Born in Brooks, Alberta, and raised there and in Independence, Kansas, Higgins settled in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, after marrying guitarist Foy Taylor. Higgins modeled her style on Memphis Minnie and independently released a debut EP (2002). Her debut studio album, The Cobbler Shop Sessions, appeared in 2005, followed by Junction City (2007), which earned a Juno Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year. After separating from Taylor and moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Higgins teamed up with the Western swing band The F-Holes for the album Bison Ranch Recording Sessions (2013), recorded in a converted barn and nominated for a Juno Award. Her album My Home, My Heart (2017) received a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Solo Artist of the Year. In 2020, Higgins announced a decision to cease recording music due to the financial unviability of streaming services, focusing instead on live performance and touring.
