Vesselin Stanev, born in 1964 in Varna, Bulgaria, is a Bulgarian pianist based in Switzerland. He began his musical studies at the National Academy of Music in Sofia before continuing his training at the Moscow Conservatory and the Conservatoire de Paris. He achieved prominence as a performer of Romantic classical music, praised for his brilliant playing style. His performance history includes concerts at major venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Salle Gaveau in Paris, and KlangBogen Wien in Vienna. He toured extensively across European countries, Russia, and Japan. His repertoire includes a complete recording of Franz Liszt's Etudes d'exécution transcendante S 139 (2010). His other recordings include Alexander Scriabin – Preludes op. 11 / Sonatas (2006), his collaboration with flutist Eva Oertle on Undine: Music for Flute and Piano (2013), and a selection of works by Liszt (2014) that includes Réminiscences de Norma and Mephisto Waltz No. 1.
