David John Legg, known as Brother Dege, and born on June 8, 1967, in Lafayette, Louisiana, was a singer-songwriter and musician of country, rock, and blues. He began his musical journey inspired by rock and blues artists such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Blind Willie Johnson. In 1994, Legg adopted the stage name Dege Legg and formed the group Santeria, which released four albums before disbanding in 2008. As Brother Dege, he went on to release several solo albums, including Folk Songs of the American Longhair (2010) and How to Kill A Horse (2014). The song "Too Old to Die Young" from How to Kill A Horse was notably featured in Quentin Tarantino's film Django Unchained, bringing him significant recognition. Brother Dege passed away on March 8, 2024.
