James Blackshaw, born in 1981 in England, is a folk fingerstyle guitarist and pianist known for his intricate acoustic 12-string guitar playing. His career began with the release of Apologia in 2003, followed by Celeste in 2004 on the Celebrate Psi Phenomenon label. Blackshaw's discography expanded significantly over the years, including notable releases such as O True Believers on Bo'weavil Records & CD on Important Records in 2006 and The Glass Bead Game on Young God Records in 2009. He has collaborated with various artists, including Jozef van Wissem, on the duo project Brethren of the Free Spirit, released albums like All Things Are From Him, Through Him, and in Him on audioMER in 2008. Blackshaw announced an indefinite hiatus from recording and performing in April 2016 but returned to both activities in July 2019.
