M.K. Denninger is a composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He wrote music privately for years — since the late 90s — without releasing any of it. In 2020, someone gave him a keyboard and he went back to piano, which he’d studied as a kid from age six to thirteen. Picking it up again as an adult is what finally got the work out the door.
His first four singles arrived a month apart: Impromptu in F (April), Toccata in D Minor – Allegro feroce (May), Nocturne in C# Minor (June), and Fantasia in G# Minor (July). Rhapsody in C Major (August 31) leads to the album. Nocturne is the quietest of the run so far — maybe the most beautiful thing he’s released.
His test is simple: if a piece doesn’t give him goosebumps, he drops it.
