Spam Allstars, a six‑piece Latin‑funk‑electronica band from Miami, Florida, became active in 1993. They released their debut album Pork Scratchings in 1999, followed by Pigs in Space, both on their label, Spamusica. Other notable albums linclude Fuacata! Live (2002), Contra Los Roboticos Mutantes (2004), and Electrodomésticos, also through Spamusica.The group averaged 250 shows a year for a decade and held a 15‑year weekly residency at Little Havana’s Hoy Como Ayer. They performed at festivals including Roskilde, High Sierra, and Langerado, and in 2008 collaborated with Page McConnell’s side project Vida Blue on The Illustrated Band and the DVD Live at the Fillmore. Though never charting mainstream, their shows cemented their status in Miami’s club scene and earned them recognition as creators of the "Miami Sound."
