Global Underground is a British record label and compilation series founded in 1996 by Andy Horsfield and James Todd. The series became known for DJ-mixed compilations recorded in distinctive clubbing destinations around the world, particularly within the progressive house scene. It has featured DJs and producers including Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Danny Tenaglia, Darren Emerson, Carl Cox, and Solomun. Originally released through the label Boxed, the series continued under Global Underground Ltd. after Boxed closed in 2001. The label later expanded its catalogue through related series and imprints including Nubreed, Electric Calm, Afterhours, and GU Music. Its releases have covered progressive house alongside house, trance, techno, hard house, and breakbeat.
