Elephant9 is a Norwegian jazz fusion trio formed in Oslo in 2006. Originally performing as Storløkken/Eilertsen/Lofthus, the group—comprising keyboardist Ståle Storløkken, bassist Nikolai Eilertsen, and drummer Torstein Lofthus—adopted the name Elephant9 after its first year. The trio debuted with the live album Dodovoodoo (2008), followed by Walk the Nile (2010), which won the 2010 Spellemannprisen for Jazz. Their subsequent studio albums, Atlantis (2012), a Spellemannprisen nominee, and Silver Mountain (2015), featured collaborations with guitarist Reine Fiske. Blending jazz fusion, progressive rock, and psychedelic influences, Elephant9 has earned acclaim from both jazz and rock audiences. The band has also appeared at major Norwegian venues and festivals, including the Kongsberg Jazz Festival and Union Scene, further establishing its reputation on the country's contemporary jazz circuit.
