Dawnbringer, a heavy metal band from the United States of America, was founded in 1995 by Chris Black in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The group's initial releases included the EP Sacrament and the album Unbleed, both released through Twilight Records. In 2000, Dawnbringer released their second full-length album, Catharsis Instinct, via Icarus Music from Argentina. Following a move to Chicago, Black recorded In Sickness and in Dreams with a new lineup. The band gained significant attention with the release of Nucleus in 2010 through Profound Lore Records, which featured Black handling vocals, drums, bass, and keyboard, along with guest guitarists. Subsequent releases included Into the Lair of the Sun God, Night of the Hammer, and Snake.
