The Laughing Dogs was an American rock band, active in the 1970s and associated with the rock/punk scene of New York's CBGB. The band consisted of Ronny Carle on bass, harmonica, and vocals, James Leonard on guitar and vocals, Carter Cathcart on guitar, keyboards, and vocals, Skip Reed on drums, and Moe Potts on drums. They first gained popularity in the New York underground music scene at CBGB in 1974. The Laughing Dogs released their self-titled debut album in 1979 on Columbia Records, followed by Meet Their Makers in 1980. They also released several indie CDs and three singles, "Get I'm Outta Town", "Reason for Love", and "Johnny Contender". The band toured extensively with notable acts such as the Patti Smith Group, Cheap Trick, and Blondie. In 2013, their song "Get Outta My Way" was featured in the soundtrack of the film CBGB.
