Daniel Fredrick Sartain, born on August 13, 1981, was an American singer-songwriter whose music encompassed genres such as rockabilly, punk rock, and the blues. He grew up in Fairfield, Alabama, and began his recording career with the self-produced albums Crimson Guard (2001) and Romance in Stereo (2002). In 2005, he released his first commercially available studio album, Dan Sartain vs. the Serpientes, through Swami Records, followed by the album Join Dan Sartain (2006). He gained significant exposure touring as an opening act for The White Stripes and The Hives in 2007. In 2009, he released the single “Bohemian Grove” on Third Man Records. His fifth album, Dan Sartain Lives, was released in 2010. His music was featured in various media, including the film 10 Cent Pistol (2014) and the video games Sunset Overdrive (2014) and The Walking Dead: 400 Days. He died on March 20, 2021, at the age of 39. On December 1, 2023, a tribute album titled Dan Sartain Vs. The World (is gonna break your little heart) was released by his friends and colleagues.
