Mark Hayes, born on March 28, 1953, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, is an American composer and arranger whose career centers on Christian sacred music and gospel music genres. After graduating magna cum laude in piano performance from Baylor University in 1975, he relocated to Kansas City in the late 1970s, where he began arranging choral works and publishing over a thousand pieces, including 10 Christmas Songs for Solo Voice. His work earned him a Dove Award for Praise and Worship Album of the Year in 1986 and multiple ASCAP Standard Awards. He premiered a contemporary Te Deum at Carnegie Hall in 2004.
