Dargaard, an Austrian neoclassical dark wave band formed in 1997, was founded by Alexander Opitz, known as Tharen. Tharen had previously been involved with several groups, including Abigor and Amestigon. Elisabeth Toriser joined as the vocalist, contributing to the group's unique sound. Dargaard's debut album, Eternity Rites, was released in 1998 via Napalm Records. The album received positive reviews for its folk/medieval themes and melancholic atmosphere. Their second album, In Nomine Aeternitatis, was released in 2000 and their third album, The Dissolution of Eternity, followed in 2001. Their fourth release, Rise And Fall, came out in 2004.
