Faun Fables, an American music and performance group from Oakland, California, was founded by Dawn McCarthy in 1997. Their unique sound blended elements of folk music, rock, and experimental genres, often featuring acoustic instruments such as guitar, violin, cello, bodhrán, and glockenspiel. Their debut album, Mother Twilight, was released in 2001. The band's subsequent albums include Family Album (2004), which marked the addition of Nils Frykdahl as a regular member, contributing his baritone vocals to complement McCarthy’s soprano. Other notable releases are The Transit Rider (2006) and Light Of A Vaster Dark (2010). Faun Fables became known for their theatrical live performances, incorporating elements of dance, puppetry, and folklore from various regions.
