Paul Sanchez, born on November 6, 1959, in New Orleans, is an American guitarist and singer‑songwriter who first gained attention as a founding member of the New Orleans band Cowboy Mouth, performing with the group from 1990 until 2006. The band’s discography includes the 1992 album Word of Mouth and subsequent releases such as It Means Escape (1994) and Are You With Me? (1996). He pursued a solo career, releasing Jet Black & Jealous (1993) before a 2008 reissue that reached number 5 on the Billboard Country Album Charts. His collaborations span Darius Rucker, Irma Thomas, and John Boutté, and his post‑Katrina tribute “Home” appeared in the Starz documentary New Orleans Music in Exile. He earned three Best of the Beat Awards in 2010 and the Best Roots Rock Performer award from Gambit Weekly the same year.
