Richard Bargel, born in 1951 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a singer and slide guitarist known for contributions to blues and rock music. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and started his musical career as a folksinger before becoming a professional blues musician by 1970. Bargel's early album, Fresh Tracks, released in 1991 and featuring Little Willie Littlefield, won the German Record Critics' Award in 1992. Bargel went on to win the prize two more times for Mojo & the Wolf (2005) and Dead Slow Stampede (2022). Bargel has also collaborated with renowned musicians like Memphis Slim and Eddie Boyd. In addition to his music career, Bargel is also a composer, author, actor, speaker, and photographer.
