Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band from Sandnes, founded in 1992 by Nattefrost and Nordavind as Enthrone before adopting its current name. After releasing several demo tapes, the band gained underground recognition with the EP Through Chasm, Caves and Titan Woods (1995), followed by the studio albums Black Shining Leather (1998), Strange Old Brew (2000), Morbid Fascination of Death (2001), Defending the Throne of Evil (2003), and Fuck You All!!!! Caput tuum in ano est (2006). Despite numerous lineup changes, Nattefrost has remained the group's driving force. Following a hiatus from 2014 to 2017, Carpathian Forest reunited and resumed live performances, releasing the single "Likeim" in 2018. The band is known for its raw, aggressive black metal sound, characterized by lo-fi production, tremolo-picked guitars, and dark, nihilistic themes.
