Trigger the Bloodshed was a British death metal band formed in Bath, England, in September 2006 by guitarists Rob Purnell and Martyn Evans. In 2007, vocalist Charlie Holmes, bassist Jamie O'Rourke, and drummer Max Blunos joined the group, which signed with Rising Records. Their debut studio album, Purgation, was released in early 2008, earning praise from Kerrang!, Terrorizer, and Metal Hammer magazines. Following the departure of Holmes and O'Rourke, who were replaced by vocalist Jonny Burgan and bassist Dave Purnell, the group signed with Metal Blade Records in July 2008. The band supported Suffocation, Meshuggah, and Cryptopsy on tour before releasing its second album, The Great Depression, in April 2009. Drummer Daniel Wilding subsequently joined the ensemble, which released its third album, Degenerate, in May 2010, and the independent EP Kingdom Come in October 2011.
