Wax Poetic is an American trip-hop band founded in 1997 at the now-defunct club Save the Robots in New York City by Turkish musician İlhan Erşahin. The group initially consisted of musicians jamming together, with Erşahin playing tenor saxophone and keyboards. Its debut album, Three, was released in 1998, followed by a self-titled album, Wax Poetic, in June 2000 under Atlantic Records. Notable members included Norah Jones, who contributed vocals to two tracks on the 2003 album Nublu Sessions. The band's discography also includes the albums Copenhagen (2006), Istanbul (2007), Brasil (2007), and On a Ride (2012). The group's music is characterized by a heavy groove of drum and bass blended with electronic dance elements.
