Max Frankl, born on July 16, 1982 in Starnberg, Germany, is a jazz guitarist and composer. Before finishing high school, he won the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend jazzt, leading to his first CD recording at Deutschlandfunk studios. He studied jazz guitar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and took private lessons from Wolfgang Muthspiel. In 2005, Frankl joined Peter Herbolzheimer's Bundesjazzorchester and toured Ukraine. He later attended the Musikhochschule Luzern, graduating summa cum laude in 2009. That year, he was selected for the European Jazz Orchestra. His debut album Home was released in 2012 on Material Records. Frankl collaborated with artists like Lee Konitz and Benny Golson. He received the ECHO Jazz award for Best National Guitarist in 2013 and published a book titled Introduction: Modern Jazz Guitar in 2016.
