Sultans was an American rock and roll band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2000 by John Reis, the ensemble was established as a side project while Reis' main group, Rocket from the Crypt, was inactive. The band originally consisted of Reis, performing under the stage name “Slasher”, drummer Tony Di Prima and guitarist Andy Stamets. The group released its debut recording, the EP Sultans, and the studio album Ghost Ship in 2000 through the label Swami Records. Following a hiatus, the ensemble was joined by bassist Dean Reis and issued the studio recording Shipwrecked (2004). During its career, the group performed on the Swami Southwest Seance tour and contributed a live recording of the track “I'm Buzzed” to a 2006 charity project. The band gave its final performance in 2007 at the venue The Casbah. The ensemble reunited for a concert in 2010.
