Time of Orchids was an American experimental rock band based in New York City, formed in 1999 and led by frontman Chuck Stern. Their debut album, Melonwhisper, released in 2001 on Relapse/Aquarius Records, featured a lineup including Charlie Looker and Will Redmond on guitar and vocals, bassist Jesse Krakow, and drummer Kim Abrams, with a guest performance from jazz pianist Marilyn Crispell. The band's lineup evolved for subsequent albums Much Too Much Fun (2003) and Early As Seen in Pace (Epicene Sound Systems, 2004). In 2007, Time of Orchids released their full-length album, Namesake Caution, on Cuneiform Records. The group became inactive in 2007, with a release of In Due Time, a self-released album in 2010.
