Fernhill, a Welsh folk band formed in 1996, is known for its innovative approach to traditional music. The band's initial lineup included Julie Murphy on voice, Ceri Rhys Matthews on guitar and flute, Andy Cutting on accordions, and Jonathan Shorland on flute and bagpipes. Their debut album, Ca' Nôs, was released in 1996, followed by Llatai in 1998. They toured extensively, performing at major festivals such as the Festival Interceltique de Lorient and the Brosella Jazz and Folk festival in Brussels. Their album Na Prádle, recorded live in Prague, made the Mojo magazine top ten folk album list in 2007. The band's lineup evolved over the years, with notable members including Christine Cooper on fiddle and Tomos Williams on trumpet. The band continued to release albums, including Canu Rhydd in 2011 and Amser in 2014.
