Vocaldente, an a cappella quintet from Hanover, Germany, was founded in 2004 by Tobias "Tobek" Kiel, Johannes "Johnny" Gruber, Niklas Turmann, Ansgar Pfeiffer, and Arndt Schmöle. The group emerged from the Knabenchor Hannover and the Hanover University of Music and Drama. The group released their debut album Let's Misbehave in 2006. Vocaldente began performing locally before expanding to international tours by 2007, notably in the United States and Southeast Asia. Their breakthrough came with first prizes at several renowned competitions, including the Tampereen Sävel Contest for Vocal Ensembles in Finland in 2007 and the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival in the U.S. in 2008. They released their album Gold ’n’ Delicious in 2009. Vocaldente is known for their acoustic performances and has conducted workshops focusing on vocal pedagogy.
