Within Reason, an American rock band formed in 2005 in Birmingham, Alabama, consists of lead vocalist Chris Dow and bassist David Koonce, with a history of rotating guitarists and drummers. The group first gained attention with the 2006 demo EP Cycle A Smile, followed by a live appearance on One Tree Hill in 2007. Their debut studio album Bloodshot Life was released in 2009, produced by Rick Beato, and supported by a tour opening for Pop Evil. In 2012, the album After the Crawl emerged, featuring the single "Enemy" that peaked at number 46 on Active Rock. The 2017 release Battlefields Life, Love and War produced the highest‑charting single "Invictus", reaching number 29 on Active Rock and number 31 on Billboard. In 2019, they released a 10th Anniversary version of their 2009 release "Bloodshot Life", which featured the original track listing plus live tracks recorded during the Bloodshot Life Tour in 2010. The band went on hiatus in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
