Captain SKA is a British ska group formed in England in 2010, composed of unsigned freelance session musicians who have performed with Culture Club, Paloma Faith, and Vampire Weekend. The group’s first notable release was the politically charged single “Liar Liar”, issued on 11 December 2010, which critiqued the coalition government amid rising tuition fees. In 2012 they released the single “U.S Healthcare Explained”. The 2017 re-recording of “Liar Liar” as “Liar Liar GE2017” entered the UK Singles Chart at number 4 on 2 June 2017, coinciding with the general election campaign. Subsequent releases included “Pieces of Me” in 2017 and “Liar Liar GE2017” on 26 May 2017. The band continued to issue politically themed tracks such as “Nigel Farage is a Racist” in May 2019, maintaining a presence in the UK ska scene through media coverage and ongoing releases.
