Marinus Bernardus de Goeij, born in 1975 in Oud-Beijerland, Netherlands, is a Dutch producer and DJ known for trance music. He began working as a producer alongside Piet Bervoets, whom he met at a party, forming the duo Pedro & Benno and releasing early singles such as "Scream for Love" and "Talkin' to You" on Karma Records. In 1999 Rank 1 was born, and "Airwave" hit numerous charts at number 1; that same year he also released "Deadline" as Dutch Force and "I Don't Need You Anymore" as Van Gils & Benno De Goeij. The early 2000s saw several Rank 1 releases, including "Such Is Life" (2001), "Awakening" (2002) and "Breathing" (2003), followed by "Beats at Rank-1 Dotcom" (2004), which was picked as the anthem for Trance Energy 2005, and the collaboration with Jochen Miller "The Great Escape" (2010). Between 2008 and 2023 he served as co-producer for Armin van Buuren, contributing to the albums Imagine, Mirage, Intense, Embrace, Balance, and A State of Trance Forever, as well as the 2023 anthem "Destination (A State of Trance 2024 Anthem)". Under the Gaia alias with Armin, he released the album Moons of Jupiter in 2019, having performed live with Armin at the 2014 Ultra Music Festival and at Paradiso in Amsterdam in 2018. In September 2024 he launched the alias BnO, releasing "Take Me Away" in 2024 and "Before You Love Me" in 2025 alongside Lulleaux, with the first of these receiving a Rank 1 remix. The single "Strobo" in 2025 marked his return to Rank 1 releases, and a potential third BnO single with Lulleaux was teased in May 2025.
