Roddy Hart is a Scottish musician, composer, and broadcaster from Glasgow born on July 16, 1979. He reached professional recognition after receiving a law degree from Glasgow University and releasing the demo recording Home Tapes (2003). His recording career began with the debut studio recording Bookmarks (2007), which featured guest performances by Kris Kristofferson and Eddi Reader. Hart subsequently released the studio recordings Sign Language (2009) and Road of Bones (2011). In 2011, he released The Dylan EP with Gemma Hayes. In 2013, he formed the band The Lonesome Fire and released an eponymous studio recording that reached professional recognition after being longlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. The ensemble subsequently released the studio recording Swithering (2016). Hart reached professional recognition as a composer for movies including Anna and the Apocalypse (2018) and Our Ladies (2020). In 2021, he reached professional recognition after receiving a Daytime Emmy Award for the track “Suffragette City” from the television series Animaniacs. Hart hosts the radio programs The Roddy Hart Show and The Quay Sessions on BBC Radio Scotland.
