Catastrophe & Cure is an Austrian indie rock band from Steyr, Upper Austria, formed in 2009 by Raphael Rameis, Patrick Steinhuber, Lukas Kargl, and Johannes Eder. In 2010, the band released their debut EP, Somewhere in Between, and produced their first music video, “It Isn't That Easy,” which was featured on the Austrian music channel goTV. In 2012, the group expanded its lineup with Sebastian Kargl and Maximilian Atteneder and released their debut album, Like Crazy Doves. The album attracted attention across Austria, while the single “Shipwreck” reached number 2 on FM4's charts. In 2013, the band won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the FM4 category for Like Crazy Doves. Their second album, Undeniable/Irresistible, followed in 2015 on Schoenwetter Schallplatten. Produced again by Johannes Eder and Markus Birkle, the album marked a shift toward a cooler, more electronic sound. Its singles “Undeniable/Irresistible” and “Bones” charted on FM4, while the music video for “The Shore” was screened at the Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz in 2016. The band later released the EP Blank Spots in 2017. They continued their recording career with Somewhere Down the Line in 2020, followed by the album In the Wind in 2025.
