Grand Analog, a Canadian hip hop band fronted by Odario Williams, was formed in 2006. The band initially began as a rock-oriented side project from Williams' main band Mood Ruff in 2002 but evolved into a hip hop ensemble with influences from R&B, jazz, reggae, and rock. Grand Analog released their debut album Calligraffiti in 2007, followed by Metropolis is Burning in May 2009, which topped the Canadian community and campus radio hip hop chart for several weeks. The band won two Western Canadian Music Awards for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Recording in 2009 for the EP Touch Your Toes and in 2010 for Metropolis is Burning. Their third album, Modern Thunder, was released in August 2013 and saw distribution across Canada, Europe, and the U.S. In 2015, the band released the album Roll Dub Soul Rap, followed by Survival in 2018.
