Strunz & Farah is a guitar duo consisting of Jorge Strunz from Costa Rica and Ardeshir Farah from Iran, formed in 1979. They met in the United States where they began their musical collaboration. Prior to forming the duo, Strunz was one of the founders of the Latin jazz band Caldera. After Caldera disbanded in 1979, Strunz and Farah released their debut album Mosaico (1980) under Ganesh Records. Their unique sound, blending flamenco, Persian rhythms, and jazz, quickly gained attention from Richard Bock, leading to a contract with Milestone Records. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Strunz & Farah released several albums including Frontera (1984), Guitarras (1985), and Primal Magic (1990). They collaborated with notable artists such as Rubén Blades on the album Joseph and His Brothers (1993). Notable albums include Américas (1992), Moods and Visions (2014), Tales of Two Guitars (2018), and their latest release, Syncretic Strings (2023).
