The Colourist are an American indie pop, indie rock, and power pop band from Orange County, California, U.S., formed in 2009 by Adam Castilla, Maya Aoki Tuttle, Justin Wagner, and Kollin Johannsen. They gained attention during their residency at Los Angeles' Bootleg Theater, leading to a record contract with Universal Republic Records in 2012. Their debut single "Little Games" topped Hype Machine's charts in Number 1 position in 2013. They released their first EP Lido in 2013 and their self-titled studio album The Colourist in 2014. Notable releases included the remix EP Inversions (2014) and the single "When I'm Away" (2015). They went on hiatus following Aoki Tuttle's departure in 2016, but hinted at a reunion in 2021. Other EP releases included Will You Wait for Me (2015).
