Dysrhythmia was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1998 by guitarist Kevin Hufnagel and bassist Clayton Ingerson, later joined by drummer Jeff Eber. The trio’s early work includes splits with Thoughtstream and Technician. Their debut album Contradiction (2000) was recorded live and set the stage for subsequent releases: No Interference (2001), Pretest (2003) under Relapse Records, Barriers and Passages (2006), Psychic Maps (2009), Test of Submission (2012) on Profound Lore, The Veil of Control (2016), Terminal Threshold (2019), and Coffin of Conviction (2024). The band toured with Mastodon, Cephalic Carnage, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their albums received critical acclaim, with Metal Hammer naming Pretest an essential mathcore release in 2003.
