The Romany Rye is an American folk-rock and Americana band from Long Beach, California, formed in 2009 by the singer-songwriter and guitarist Luke MacMaster. The band released its first studio album, Highway 1, Looking Back Carefully, on October 5, 2009. Their musical style has drawn frequent comparisons to artists such as Neil Young, My Morning Jacket, and Ryan Adams and The Cardinals. In early 2011, the group was one of 16 bands selected for the Rolling Stone magazine contest “Do You Wanna Be A Rock and Roll Star?”. While the band advanced to the second round of the competition, they were ultimately disqualified for violating a non-disclosure agreement. On January 3, 2012, the group released its second album, Quicksilver Sunbeam. The record featured 12 tracks, including “Brother” and “Untitled (Love Song)”, both of which were originally featured on their debut release. Some editions of the band's second album also featured the bonus track “Yesterday's Boy”.
