Hypnosia was a Swedish metal band that was active between 1995 and 2002. The group was founded by the vocalist and guitarist Mikael “Cab” Castervall and the drummer Michael “Mike” Sjöstrand, later adding the bassist Klas Gunnarsson and the guitarist Carl-Petter “Calle” Berg. They released the early demo recordings Crushed Existence (1996) and The Storms (1997) before signing with Iron Fist Records for the EP Violent Intensity (1999). After signing with Hammerheart Records, they released their debut studio album, Extreme Hatred (2000), which featured a musical style influenced by bands such as Slayer and Kreator. The ensemble disbanded in 2002 while working on a second studio album titled World Sacrifice. A compilation of their early work, Horror Infernal, was released in 2012.
