DJ Jean, born Jan Engelaar on May 7, 1968 in the Netherlands, is a DJ and producer of electronic music. His career began in 1989 when he won the Dutch mixing and scratching championship. Following this breakthrough, DJ Jean started performing in various clubs and gained prominence as a live DJ at Amsterdam's iT nightclub. In 1999, he achieved international success with his debut album The Launch, which featured the single "Get Ready for the Launch" performed by Natasja Morales. The album peaked at Number 2 on the UK charts. DJ Jean continued to build his career through various radio shows and collaborations. From 2002 to 2007, he hosted shows on Radio 538, Caz!, and Slam!FM. He also presented a weekly show on ISLA 106 in Ibiza and Majorca titled DJ Jean's Mad House. In 2014, DJ Jean began hosting his own radio show, DJ Jean @ Work, on Radio Veronica, which later moved to Fresh FM in 2015. Throughout his career, DJ Jean released several notable singles, including "Sexy Lady" (2007) and "New Dutch Shuffle" (2010), which further solidified his presence in the electronic music scene.
