Christopher John Mackintosh, born on December 29, 1962 in Paris, France, is a British electronic music DJ and producer also known as C.J. Mackintosh. Raised in London, he began DJing on a homemade sound system with his brother and secured a regular gig at Flim Flam Club before joining Serious Records to compile mixes. In 1987, he won the UK bracket of the DMC World Mixing Championships and joined Nasty Rox Inc., later becoming part of the 4AD ensemble M/A/R/R/S, whose single "Pump Up the Volume" became a hit in the United Kingdom and the United States. Mackintosh produced and remixed for acts such as C&C Music Factory, Coldcut, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, and Whitney Houston. He begain DJing at Ministry of Sound in the early 1990s until 1996 and continued to issue mix CDs into the 2010s.
