Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, known professionally as Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress born in Kumasi, Ghana, on April 10, 1987. The daughter of filmmaker Nana Adwoa Awindor, she first rose to prominence in 2008 as the runner-up on the television show Stars of the Future. Under her initial stage name Miss Jane, she recorded the collaborative album Unveiled (2009) with Irene Logan. Prior to launching her solo career, she changed her stage name to Efya. Between 2011 and 2014, she won four consecutive Ghana Music Awards for Best Female Vocal Performance, including wins for her songs “Little Things” and “Life”.Efya released her debut mixtape, T.I.N.T, in November 2013, which compiled songs released since 2011 and featured the singles “Getaway” and “Best in Me”. She followed with her debut studio album, Janesis, in April 2016, which explored genres such as Afro-soul, R&B, and Afropop, and featured collaborations with Sarkodie and Stonebwoy. In May 2016, she signed with Wizkid's Starboy Entertainment and provided vocals for his single “Daddy Yo”. Her subsequent recordings include the reggae-infused track “Until the Dawn” (2017), the single “The One” (2020) featuring Tiwa Savage, and the extended play No More Tears (2023). Alongside her music career, she starred in the film Single and Married (2012) and served as an ambassador for the Awal Children of the Future Foundation.
