Witchburner are a German thrash metal band formed in 1992. The ensemble was founded by Tankred Best and Florian Schmitt and achieved professional recognition for a musical style influenced by 1980s thrash metal. After a period of inactivity while Best performed with the group Drunken Devil, the ensemble resumed activity in 1996 with the eponymous debut studio recording Witchburner (1996). Their recording career includes the studio recordings Blasphemic Assault (1998), Incarnation of Evil (2001), and Final Detonation (2005). They have issued numerous split recordings with artists including Blizzard (2000) and Abigail (2002). Their discography includes the extended play German Thrashing War (2002) and the studio recordings Blood of Witches (2007) and Demons (2010).
