Pete Morton was born on July 30, 1964, in Leicester, England, and is an English folksinger-songwriter based in London. After discovering folk music at age 16 through a Buffy Sainte-Marie record, he began busking and performing at local folk clubs across the United Kingdom and Europe. He signed with Harbourtown Records in 1987, releasing his debut album Frivolous Love, which received critical acclaim and led to him being voted the most promising newcomer by fRoots magazine in 1988. Throughout the 1990s, he toured extensively across North America, Europe, and Australia, and traveled to Pakistan, Malaysia, and Singapore with musicians Roger Wilson and Simon Edwards. His notable releases included Courage, Love and Grace (1995) and a collection of traditional songs on Trespass (1998). His subsequent albums included Swarthmoor (2003), Napoleon Jukebox (2007), and The Land of Time (2015). In 2024, he decided to stop recording albums to focus exclusively on live performances, incorporating new material in a talking blues style.
