German pianist Martin Kälberer was born on August 7, 1967, in Ulm. He received guitar and mandolin instruction from his mother at the Eichenau Music School starting in 1972, followed by piano lessons a year later. He later studied piano at the Jazz Department of the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts. Kälberer began his professional music career as a freelance musician in 1989 and has since released several albums, including Espaco (1995), Between the Horizon (2010), and Goya (2013) as a solo artist. He is also known for his collaborations with Werner Schmidbauer as part of the duo Schmidbauer & Kälberer, which formed in 1993. He has also worked with Pippo Pollina on the album Süden (2012) and its sequel Süden II (2019), both of which were accompanied by tours.
