Hans Per Rotmo, born on March 10, 1948, in Verdal Municipality, Norway, was a singer and songwriter known for his contributions to folk-rock music. He began his musical journey as the leading figure of the 1970s folk-rock band Vømmøl Spellmannslag. Rotmo's early songs, such as "Fire fine lænestola" and "Vårres jul", became notable hits in Norway. His lyrics often reflected themes from rural Norway and the industrial progress post-World War II, influenced by his support for the revolutionary communist movement and the ideologies of Mao Zedong and Karl Marx. In 2011, Rotmo released Vårres Jul Live Fra Olavshallen, a live album that showcased his enduring popularity. He died on October 24, 2024, at the age of 76.
