Boris Smile was an American indie-pop collective from Long Beach, California, formed in 2004 by A. Wesley Chung. Initially a solo project named after his young Russian neighbor, it quickly evolved into a band with a rotating lineup of musicians. Boris Smile released their debut full-length album Chapter I in the summer of 2007, followed by Young and It Feels So Good in spring 2008. The latter was noted as one of the top ten best albums of 2008 by music blog The Album Project. In fall 2008, they released the Beartooth EP, their first with Michigan indie label Count Your Lucky Stars Records. Boris Smile released another EP, Rockets EP, in March 2010. The band's final album, My Love Powered by 10,000 Practice Amps, was released in spring 2011 and explored themes of community, faith, and strength in weakness. Boris Smile disbanded in summer 2011, concluding with a final show on September 5 at Fingerprints record store in Long Beach.
