Sentinel Beast is an American heavy metal band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1984 by vocalist Debbie Gunn, bassist Michael Spencer, and drummer Scott Awes. The group released demo recordings including Kill the Witch (1984) and Depths of Death (1985). Their debut album, Depths of Death, was released in 1986 through Metal Blade Records, with Roadrunner handling distribution in some territories. During the mid-1980s release period, the band appeared on bills with groups including Slayer, Exodus, Megadeth, Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, and Motörhead. Sentinel Beast became inactive in 1987 after Spencer joined Flotsam and Jetsam. The band reformed in 2007 and released Up From the Ashes in 2010 on Stormspell Records.
