Bitch, an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in December 1980, gained attention for their theatrical live performances inspired by Alice Cooper. Their breakthrough came when guitarist David Carruth met Brian Slagel, future CEO of Metal Blade Records, leading to their inclusion in the historic compilation Metal Massacre (1982) with a demo version of "Live for the Whip". Bitch signed with Metal Blade and released their debut EP Damnation Alley in 1982. Their first full-length album, Be My Slave, followed in 1983. The band's controversial stage shows drew attention from the Parents Music Resource Center. In 1987, they released their best-selling record, The Bitch Is Back.
